Lauren was mentored by Francis Martin
“What a treat it has been to work alongside Francis Martin on this mentorship! Over the past eight months, I have felt fortunate to get to know him and to soak up as much of his knowledge as possible. Francis provided clear, thoughtful feedback and visual examples from his studio, making the whole process feel lighthearted and engaging. I came into this mentorship intending to develop my writing, and Francis generously shared his own works-in-progress with me, creating a wonderful rhythm of exchanging ideas. I always felt equal and supported, like we were on the same journey, learning from and encouraging each other with our practices. During our meetings, Francis offered clarity, encouragement, and the freedom to take creative risks, whilst helping me find my voice and inspiring me to draw parallels between my personality and my writing, weaving humour and satire into my project. Beyond mentorship, I have gained a great friend in Francis. His humility, warmth, and down-to-earth nature made the experience relaxed and pressure-free, and I look forward to continuing to share our work.”
