Vivian French, recipient of the Scottish Book Trust Outstanding Achievement Award

Posted on March 7, 2018

We are proud to announce that our very own co-founder and trustee Vivian French has been awarded the prestigious 2018 Scottish Book Trust Outstanding Achievement Award.

Vivian is an Edinburgh-based author and educator, among her various other roles – she has been Children’s Writer-in-Residence at Edinburgh International Book Festival five times as well as a guest selector for the children’s programme, a Patron of the Borders Book Festival, and also teaches at Edinburgh College of Art in the illustration department.

To date, she has written over 270 titles for children, and has worked alongside illustrators from the very beginning. She is a champion of emerging illustrators, well aware of the struggles early career illustrators can face in a difficult industry. And so, together with literary agent Lucy Juckes, Vivian founded Picture Hooks, providing a framework of support backed by years of experience.

We’d like to thank Scottish Book Trust for creating the short film below, also featuring our co-founder Lucy Juckes and talented Picture Hooks alumnus Anders Frang. Have a watch, and join us in celebrating the career of the outstanding Vivian French.
